You're Just Not That Special

Babies crying in any public place can be annoying.

Such is the case of my visit to church last Sunday.

Baby starts crying, baby won't stop crying, mother won't leave in the hopes of getting some morsel of wisdom from the sermon, and you can't hear the sermon yourself (For the record, you don't need to hear to be able to adjust your fantasy football lineup on your blackberry).

Believe it or not, this doesn't annoy me. Why not? Because, though I have seen people this stupid, most people don't stay in the room with the kid. They leave the room.

When they don't leave, either they are very ... very stupid (stop breeding now!!!) or they can't leave. In this case, the mother had another child she couldn't leave un-attended. Hence, a reason.

What really gets under my skin is you, evil Asian woman (the double whammy of road-hazards) sitting 3 rows in front of me.

Not only is she giving this poor woman with the kids the most evil death stare I've ever seen for a good 3 minutes (the pastor is over THERE, lady), she literally gets up to go "handle" things.

The situation dissolved when someone helped the woman with her children left before the angry Asian could get to her.

First off, she's in church ... I'll assume she's "of the faith." Now, I cannot fathom what biblical statute we stand on for "death stares," but I'm pretty certain Jesus didn't command believers "Stare at the poor, the unfortunate, and the needy. They'll get the idea and you will get your way."

Second, who the hell are YOU, lady? We're all having a harder time existing because of this woman's screaming child, but please ... please be the savior of us all, get up, and explain to that woman that her child is loud. SHE DOESN'T KNOW THIS AND YOU NEED TO INFORM HER!!!

This is part of a mentality in this area. It's the mentality that says "I'm gonna get mine and you all can be damned."

Apparently, the good people who go to church are gonna get their Jesus and everyone else can be damned ... especially loud babies.
